Rutherford's Alpha Omega winery released its first wines in July 2006, but its winemakers are hardly neophytes. Winemaker Jean Hoefliger has made wines at Bordeaux's Château Lynch-Bages and Château Carbonnieux and worked, most recently, as winemaker for Newton Vineyard, before joining Alpha Omega. He is assisted by renowned consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. From the winery: ""II is the culmination of the two worlds, the Alpha and the Omega, the Old World and the New World. Winemakers, Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland worked to create a wine that is not only opulent, fruit forward and generous, but also has the backbone of European acidity and elegance.
