The Altocedro 2022 La Consulta Select arrives with dusk already in motion—its nose drifts in layered rhythm: grilled plum, violet petals, a whisper of sage, then olive brine and dusty clay. It’s not perfumed; it’s rooted, shaped by altitude and intention.
The palate is layered but lean. Fruit doesn’t oversweeten—it pushes, then pulls back. Black fruit folds into graphite-edged tannins, chased by rosemary and cracked pepper, while acidity keeps shape tied to motion. The finish doesn’t dawdle—it resolves with clarity, not drama.
This isn’t a Mendoza mashup. Altocedro “Select” is a thoughtful co-ferment: about a third Malbec, plus Syrah, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a hint of Merlot and Petit Verdot. It’s a blend that speaks — the Andes, soil, and vintage — rather than a recipe. The grapes ferment in concrete or barrels via gravity-flow, then age 12 months in French oak. You sense the vineyard in motion, not the cellar’s intention.
