A Collection of Curious Casks brings to life the environment of The Balvenie’s warehouses and celebrates the power of close friendship and collaboration between The Balvenie Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Warehouse and Samples Coordinator George Paterson—in their efforts and commitment to produce the most exceptional liquid. 

The collection honors Kelsey and George’s collaborative working relationship, the beautiful work they create, their deep knowledge and passion for unique casks with
rare potential—and sharing the weird and wonderful outliers they find with the world.

The Balvenie 18-Year-Old French Pineau Cask Finish holds a special place in The Balvenie story. Originally part of Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE’s experiment with French Pineau casks, this liquid initially didn’t meet his exacting standards. Yet, its journey continued. Left to mature for an additional eight years under Kelsey’s watchful eye, this liquid revealed a remarkable transformation. The result? A whisky showcasing the enduring influence of time and David’s pioneering spirit.
