To accompany diplomatic receptions and buffets in the Kremlin, it was decided to develop a drink that was to become the calling card of high-level events. It was unanimously decided that such an official drink should be vodka, as a traditional Russian product.
A team of the best food industry specialists was assembled to prepare this project. It included top-class Soviet distillers who developed the recipe for two years. This work was carried out at the highest level, under the personal and continuous supervision of the country's leaders. After the successful completion of the project, vodka created according to a special recipe accompanied not only diplomatic, but also official receptions and buffets in the Kremlin. The recipe for this vodka was kept strictly secret for a long time, which gave it a certain status and exclusivity. Vodka was produced only by special order from the Kremlin, in limited quantities.
The first special order for a large batch was received in January 1945. In February of the same year, this batch of “protocol” vodka, accompanied by the Kremlin’s personal security service, was sent to Yalta for the Summit banquet. The first New Year’s reception on December 31, 1953, in the Grand Kremlin Palace was also served with this “protocol” vodka. In April 1961, another special order was received for the production of a large batch of vodka for a special closed banquet in the Kremlin. Since then, not a single significant event has taken place without a special order “for a special occasion,” which has already become customary. For example, hunting in Zavidovo, “Goluboi Ogonyok” on Shabolovka, important meetings in “Gorki-10.”
During the production of vodka, each bottle was supplied with a certificate listing the names and personal signatures of the specialists responsible for its release. The sanitary service, headed by a doctor from the State Security Committee, conducted tests and samples at literally all stages of production, and then sealed each box of produced vodka, placed it in a special container, and it, sealed, was taken away. Until now, the security system and requirements for checking products and drinks intended for the top officials of the state have not changed.
For decades, this vodka was officially recognized in the Kremlin, but did not have its own official name. Among themselves or when ordering the next batch, it was called "protocol" or "Kremlin" vodka. We decided to preserve the legend of its origin in the name of the vodka, calling it KREMLIN AWARD Grand Premium.
KREMLIN AWARD Grand Premium vodka remains faithful to traditions and history, combining them with an innovative approach to the process of producing a drink of the highest quality.
