TEELING WHISKEY SINGLE MALT VIRGIN AMERICAN OAK SINGLE CASK 2012 EDITION 750ML

Ireland – home of Leprechauns, Selkies, and one of America’s favourite holidays… St. Patrick’s Day! But Ireland is also home to some fantastic Whiskey distilleries including one in the Dublin City center, Teeling!

Teeling Irish Whiskey was established in 2012 when brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling began working on opening Dublin’s newest distillery in 125 years! In 2015 they opened the doors, and have been selling Irish whiskey since under the family name.

However in Ireland, you can’t call it whiskey unless it’s aged for 3 years, so the brothers used whiskey that they and their father had negotiated for when the Cooley Distillery was acquired by Beam in 2011. These stocks of aged Irish whiskey allowed them to start the brand while their liquid came of age. Now all the pot still and single malt is distilled in Dublin City Center while the single grain is contract distilled for the Teelings as there is no room for a column still in the middle of Dublin.

Here at LoveScotch, we’re very excited to be able to offer you this single cask, single malt Irish Whiskey from Teeling distillery! Our barrel is matured entirely in Virgin American Oak and bottled at a whopping 59.2% ABV!

Appearance: In the glass, this presents as a delicious caramel honey.

Nose: Fruits including apple, cherry, and orange with a hint of pineapple to lend it a bit of a “tropical” vibe. There’s a natural vanilla sweetness that also leans towards the realm of a nice quality Anejo tequila.

Palate: First of all, THIS IS HOT. Once you get past that blast of ethanol you’re greeted with rice cereal, orange, that same Vanilla from the nose, and lots of straw. There’s a slight hint of straw shining through on the backend with notes of lemon squares on the finish.
